Bangladesh reports 8,136 COVID cases, 261 deaths in a day

In a single day, Bangladesh reported 8,136 COVID cases and 261 deaths.








According to the most recent government data, the caseload increased to 1,343,396 persons after 8,136 people tested positive for the disease in the 24 hours leading up to 8 a.m. Saturday.


In the last 24 hours, Dhaka had the highest daily deaths and new cases among the eight divisions, with 101 deaths and 3,977 infections. In the same time span, Chattogram had 62 deaths and 2,577 cases, while Khulna had 45 deaths and 428 cases.

Another 16,383 persons recovered from the sickness across the country, bringing the total number of those who have recovered to 1,188,820.


A total of 31,714 samples were examined across the country, with a 25.65% positive result. According to the most recent statistics, the recovery rate is 88.49 percent, while the death rate is 1.67 percent.


According to a count by Johns Hopkins University, the new coronavirus has infected over 201.81 million individuals worldwide and killed 4.27 million.


Since the first cases were discovered in China in December 2019, infections have been reported in over 210 countries and territories.
